  • Any solution successfully developed for India can thus find success in many regions worldwide

Leveraging our expertise and excellence to decarbonize Indian energy system

  • IIT Madras recently named an Institute of Eminence by Govt. of India
  • A budget of Rs 1000 crores (135 million) alloted for a period of five years to develop and offer to Indian and global markets innovative and high-impact solutions

Energy Consortium - Win-win academia-industry partnerships

  • The IIT Madras Energy Consortium is a powerful platform that solves industry’s low carbon energy needs using our interdisciplinary research expertise
  • Industry can de-risk their R&D efforts through this consortium
  • Industry gets access to a large and talented pool of energy researchers

Key objectives

The consortium would be a strategic partner to help incubate and groom technology that is in the discovery and feasibility stages and to assist those in the pilot demonstration levels through use case scenario validations and techno-economic studies geared to understand scaling and commercialization aspects. The idea is to enhance and accelerate R&D efforts of the consortium members on topics of mutual interest/ benefit by partnering with IITM.

The three broad outcomes envisaged by the consortium will be

  • Stakeholder engagement, encouraging responsible choices for energy solutions
  • Methodologies for transparent and clear metrics such as achieving reduction in GHG emissions and addressing the sustainable development goals overall
  • Preparing future leaders with diverse perspectives, who would be capable of navigating the cultural rewiring that comes about from a sustainable energy dominated future

The IITM EC can be considered to be an extended research partner for your company’s low carbon energy R&D efforts.
